THE TWELVE – 10 x 52’

A gripping psychological thriller which revolves around a jury that must decide the guilt or innocence of Fri Palmers, a broken woman accused of a double murder, including that of her own daughter. As the trial unfolds, so does the potential fate of the accused, and the weight of the case begins to affect the jurors’ lives. They respond according to their own personal scars and life experiences, ultimately creating a moral dilemma that each one of them must face.

The series is produced by Eyeworks (Peter Bouckaert & Gunter Schmid), one of the most prominent and longest established film and TV production companies in Belgium (Warner Bros. group), in association with VRT, VAF/Mediafonds, Federation Entertainment and the Belgian Tax Shelter.

A visually captivating and intense thriller, the series was created by Bert Van Dael and Sanne Nuyens (Clan, Hotel Beau Séjour) and is directed by Wouter Bouvijn (Crossroads, Missing Persons Unit).

Starring Johan Heldenbergh (Alabama Monroe, Larguées), Maaike Cafmeyer (Bevergem, Homegrown), Tom Vermeir (The Team 2, Salamander 2, The Day) and Charlotte De Bruyne (Flying Home, Derrière Les Nuages).

Set in Amsterdam against the backdrop of the tumultuous 1980’s coronation riots, a young detective Judd Cox has just been promoted to one of the toughest police departments in the city.  Along with his partner Montyjn, they are investigating a murder case that leads to plans for an attack on the coronation day of Princess Beatrix.  In a race against time they strive to thwart the attack, in the busy, ramshackle historical city centre of 80’s Amsterdam, where drug dealers, squatters and the wealthy middle class all strive to co-exist.

The series is the prequel to the stories written by A. C. Baantjer, the most successful Dutch book franchise of all time.

AMSTERDAM VICE won a Colden Calf for Best Production Design at the Netherlands Film Festival. It was selected at the Houston International Film Festival and the Festival de la Fiction de la Rochelle in 2019 / European selection.
