With Michael Youn attached to the project
Paris, May 05th, 2021.
For immediate release,
Federation (Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan) has teamed up with French banner Un pour Tous Productions (Rémi Préchac, Julien Vallespi) to acquire from publisher Luke Comics, the audiovisual adaptation rights for Lucky Luke, the bestselling comic books by Belgian author and cartoonist Morris: over 300 million comic books sold worldwide, 46 volumes, 37 of which co-written with Goscinny (Asterix & Obelix).
Federation and Un Pour Tous Productions are set to co-develop and co-produce an ambitious drama series adapted from the legendary franchise.
Michael Youn, one of France’s most popular actors and comedy directors, is on board as co-creator, artistic producer and director of the series.
The infamous gunslinger from the Wild West will therefore come to life in a series of comedy adventures and will feature all of the colorful characters of Lucky Luke, including The Dalton, Calamity Jane, Pat Poker and Rantanplan.
“As a big fan of the comics, I’m very excited to be part of this adventure, and I can’t wait to share with audiences” said Youn.
Pascal Breton added: “ This is a dream come true! I started my career by producing the adaptations of Tintin and Babar. The opportunity we have today to translate into fiction the mythical universe of Lucky Luke and the Daltons with the talented Michael Youn is a marvellous thing, and that we look forward to share with the world”
Finally, Un pour Tous Productions’ Rémi Préchac and Julien Vallespi said “adapting a monumental franchise such as Lucky Luke in a series is a challenge we are proud to undertake alongside Federation and Youn. Our biggest wish is to appeal to an intergenerational audience like the comics did ”.
