Filming of season 7 is underway, as Season 6 achieves superb ratings on France 2
Deadly Tropics, the hit series (56 x 52’) produced by Federation Studio France for France Televisions continues its successful run in France and internationally, with further sales in Europe and across the Atlantic as it continues to grow exponentially with every new season.
The police procedural dramedy which blends eventful investigations, witty dialogue and topical yet global themes is produced by Thierry Sorel (Federation Studio France) for France 2, and stars Sonia Rolland and Béatrice de la Boulaye as a modern duo of strong-headed cops.
With Season 7 currently in production, the hit series will soon total 56 x 52’ exciting episodes.
This comes off the back of Season 6 which launched on France 2 on March 14 and has already established itself as a clear leader in the Friday evening prime time slot. Garnering impressive ratings which have kept on growing, the latest season is no exception! Gathering an average of 22.8% audience share per episode (up to 5.1 million viewers, including 4.33 linear + 1 week catchup).
Federation Studios, which handles global distribution, is delighted to announce a string of sales for the series, now extending its reach into over 70 territories worldwide:
Season 6 has been acquired by SKY in Italy and Disney in Portugal. The series has also been snapped up by Prosieben, Sat1 and ZDF (Germany), Mediaset and SKY (Italy), Atres Media and NBC Universal (Spain), RTBF (Belgium), Blue and RTS (Switzerland), Network4 (Hungary), LNK (Lithuania), TV3 (Latvia), and Disney for the Balkans.
In France, the series has been acquired by 13è Rue – NBC Universal, while the first seasons were acquired by Star and Salto.
Across the Atlantic, the series was also sold to CBC Radio Canada and Quebecor (TVA) in Canada, MHZ in the US took the series as well as Sony in Latin America (whose networks cover 49 territories in Central, South America and the Caribbean islands).
Notably, the ratings were particularly high for a foreign series in both Latin America and Italy.
