Federation Studios announces raft of sales for MISS AUSTEN, an exquisite 4×60’ period drama miniseries produced by Bonnie Productions (Christine Langan) and PBS Masterpiece (Susanne Simpson), in association with the BBC and Federation Stories (Polly Williams).Â
Featuring a stellar cast including Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Orphan Black), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey), Patsy Ferran (Living, Hot Milk), Jessica Hynes (Life After Life, Years and Years), MISS AUSTEN is based on the best-selling book by Gill Hornby, one of the best novels of 2020 according to The Times and The Observer. The miniseries is directed by Aisling Walsh (Bafta TV winner for Room at the Top, Bafta nominee for Elizabeth is missing and Wallander) and written by Andrea Gibb (Sanditon, Mayflies, Elizabeth is missing…).
The series has been snapped up by ARTE in France and Germany, Movistar in Spain, Nova in Greece, Viasat for CIS territories, YLE in Finland, SVT in Sweden, RTP in Portugal, RTS in Switzerland, MTVA in Hungary, RTV in Slovenia. Other key territories will be confirmed shortly.
For the record, the series pulled an impressive 21.2% audience share on BBC and got the UK press swooning. It will premiere in the US on PBS Masterpiece on May 4th.
Hailed by The Times as a ‘’restrained, piquant adaptation of Gill Hornby’s book’’, Miss Austen takes a literary mystery – Cassandra Austen notoriously burning her famous sister Jane’s letters – and reimagines it as a fascinating and witty tale of sisterly love.
Federation Studios holds worldwide rights to Miss Austen.
