A love letter to French cinema, Paris, and the universal feeling of youth wistfulness.
Directed by awarded filmmaker Isabel Coixet (Foodie Love, My Life Without Me, The Secret Life of Words, The Bookshop, Paris, Je T’aime)
Â
Louise dreams of becoming a filmmaker. After winning a UNESCO grant, she leaves Limoges for Paris to be mentored by a legendary American writer-director.
But reality quickly sets in: Paris is tougher than she imagined, her childhood friendships are fading, she can’t find an apartment and is stuck in a youth hostel—and the mentor she came for is nowhere in sight. Everything changes the day she meets Charlie while working on her screenplay. She offers her a room in the apartment she shares with Nelson, her best (and almost only) friend. There’s just one catch: Louise has to pass their brutally honest roommate interview first.
Their unlikely trio marks the beginning of a chaotic and heartfelt cohabitation as they navigate that awkward, uncertain passage from youth into adulthood.
