Disney+ and France Télévisions join forces on the brand-new scripted series “Lucky Luke”

Filming is underway in Spain, and stars Alban Lenoir as the iconic cowboy

October 2th 2024

Today, Disney+ and France Télévisions proudly announced their joint collaboration, as commissioners of Lucky Luke. Based on the acclaimed Lucky Comics/Dupuis comic series by Morris and Goscinny, the brand-new scripted series is being produced by Federation Studios and co-produced by Un Pour Tous Productions.

As its primary broadcaster, Disney+ will launch the series exclusively on its streaming service, it will subsequently be shown on France Télévisions.

Production for the eight-episode adventure comedy series has just begun in Spain.

Written by Mathieu Leblanc (Panda, Astrid, The Crimson Rivers) and Thomas Mansuy (Panda, Call My Agent!, Killer Coaster), Lucky Luke is directed by Benjamin Rocher (Parallels, The Squad, The Squad: Home Run) and stars Alban Lenoir, who also serves as series co-producer through his company, Homerun, alongside Federation Studio France’s Géraldine Gendre and Lionel Uzan, and Un Pour Tous Productions’ Julien Vallespi and Rémi Préchac.

In this brand-new series, the iconic lonesome cowboy finds himself watching over eighteen-year-old Louise, who is as sharp as a cactus and more unpredictable than a rabid coyote. The two set off on a quest across the Wild West to find Louise’s mother, who has mysteriously vanished, as they try to foil a plot that could well alter the course of US history! Packed with duels, high-speed chases, angry headbutts, and unexpected alliances with the Dalton Brothers, Billy the Kid, and Calamity Jane, among others, this is an exhilarating adventure that explores both the origins and the future of the man “who shoots faster than his shadow.” Our unlikely duo soon discover that their most daunting challenge is not to save America… but to learn to work as a team!

Alban Lenoir (The Squad, The Squad: Home Run, Lost Bullet, AKA) will don the hat and boots of the legendary cowboy. Billie Blain (The Animal Kingdom, The Holy Family) as the amazing Louise, Alice Taglioni (The Valet, Nice Girls, UFOs) as Charlie, Jérôme Niel (Infested, Les Tutos) as Joe Dalton, Victor le Blond (The Squad: Home Run, Moah, Women at War) as Billy the Kid, and Camille Chamoux (Le Flambeau, Ghosts, Six Women, Our Happy Holiday) as Calamity Jane round out the main cast.

About “Lucky Luke”

Headde by Claude e Saint-Vincent, Lucky Comics launched in 1999 under the guidance of Morris and his two long-standing publishers, Dargaud and Dupuis. The company was built on their shared desire to manage and promote the Lucky Luke comic series, its creator, Morris, and its co-authors, especially René Goscinny, with whom Morris produced 32 volumes of the lonesome cowboy’s adventures. The company also endeavored to keep the iconic series alive after Morris passed away in 2003, by enlisting the help of major authors and graphic artists. Lucky Comics has published 52 volumes to date, translated into 36 languages. The famous cowboy and his ragtag band of friends and foes, including the Dalton Brothers, Rantanplan, and Jolly Jumper, are some of the best-known and most beloved characters from the world of comics.
