Federation Studios picks up distribution rights to Starlings Television Distribution’s SHERLOCK & DAUGHTER

Produced in Association with The CW & Warner Bros. Discovery, the Series has Commenced Production in Dublin with Director Bryn Higgins

Los Angeles and Paris, April 8th, 2024

Starlings Television Distribution, through its affiliate Albion Television, has partnered with Federation Studios on SHERLOCK AND DAUGHTER (8×60) to distribute the new scripted crime thriller worldwide.

Federation will handle international distribution rights for SHERLOCK AND DAUGHTER outside territories where Starlings has secured straight-to-series orders, together with financiers Krempelwood and MBM3: The CW in the U.S. and Warner Bros. Discovery’s discovery+ in the UK & Ireland. Previously, YLE Finland, NRK Norway, DR Denmark, SVT Sweden, RUV Iceland and Amedia CIS signed on along with SBS Television Australia. SBS acquired the series from Escapade Media, which has licensed the distribution rights to it in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Palatin Media is distributing the show as exclusive sales agent in Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Europe.

Shooting of this Albion and StoryFirst co-production in Ireland/UK has commenced in Dublin, with Cross Keys Productions overseeing physical production. Director Bryn Higgins (Black Mirror, The Mallorca Files) helms the series, with BAFTA Award-nominated actor David Thewlis (Fargo, The Artful Dodger) as the world-famous detective Sherlock Holmes; Blu Hunt (The New Mutants, Another Life) as Amelia Rojas; and International Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning Dougray Scott (Crime, Mission Impossible 2) as Holmes’ nemesis, Professor Moriarty.

In this exciting new series is an older Sherlock Holmes, less confident and out of his comfort zone. The renowned detective finds himself mysteriously unable to investigate a sinister case without risking the lives of his closest friends. Meanwhile young American, Amelia learns her missing father may be the esteemed detective, after her mother’s shocking and unexplainable murder.

Sherlock battles between his intellect and his emotion when he is confronted with this young woman claiming to be his daughter. Despite wildly different backgrounds and attitudes, Amelia proves herself essential to cracking the case as the pair work together to solve a global conspiracy, the mystery of her mother’s murder and find out for sure if she really is Sherlock’s daughter. Will she lead to his redemption?

From Starlings TV Distribution, Albion Television and StoryFirst, the creative team for the series is led by Showrunner/EP James Duff, Creator/Head Writer Brendan Foley and Higgins as director. Joining the team are Executive Producer Dominic Barlow, as well as writers Micah War Dog Wright and Shelly Goldstein. Karine Martin and Chris Philip will serve as EPs for Starlings, Peter Gerwe for StoryFirst, Ivan Dunleavy for Cross Keys and Natalie Lawley for Escapade Media.
