Federation Studios (Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan, Marco Chimenz) has recently secured the international rights to DEAD END, a dark-comedy thrillerby acclaimed Flemish creator Malin-Sarah Gozin (Bad Sisters,Tabula Rasa, Clan).
The 6 X 52’ series is part of the official competition of CANNESERIES. The series will be presented on April 28th at 3.00 P.M. at Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière, in Cannes, in presence of creator, screenwriter and director Malin-Sarah Gozin, director Hans Vercauter, and actors Peter Van den Begin, Elise Schaap, Emilie De Roo, Marjan De Schutter and Ward Kerremans.
The series follows Ed Bex (the always magnetic Peter Van den Begin), who has a peculiar eating disorder: whenever he tastes something, he’s able to see flashes of what happened to it in the past. It’s a bizarre “gift” he uses in his unconventional job, running his one-man business “The Aftertaste”, where Ed helps grieving families cope by reconstructing the final moments of their loved ones. How does he do it? By “seeing” what only he can see – sucking on someone’s toothbrush or tasting their lipstick.
When Inspector Adams comes upon a corpse in an airtight bag, he turns to Ed for help catching the killer. Ed’s faced with a dilemma: should he use his unusual gift to solve the murder? If his freaky gift works on a carrot or a lamb chop, would it work on human flesh, too? As Ed “sinks his teeth” into the case, he finds himself caught in a whirlwind of bizarre events, family trouble and mid-life struggles.
The series was released in2025 on Play Media & Streamz in Belgium.
The ensemble cast includes Peter Van den Begin (Tabula Rasa, Good People…), Elise Schaap (Undercover, Amsterdam Empire…), Marjan De Schutter (Geldwolven), Emilie De Roo (Beau Séjour), Ward Kerremans (Soil) and Jesse Bo Gebruers (At Night We Fly).
