From different worlds, two boys united by a shared passion for birdsong turn rivalry into a deep friendship, opening the way to freedom and a unique artistic journey.
Based on the true story of Jean Boucault & Johnny Rasse and their book.
In a French seaside village in the 1980s, Alexandre, a quiet and introspective newcomer, is destined by his mother for the piano.
Eddy, instinctive yet sensitive, grows up in the shadow of his
taciturn father, a local hunter and gamekeeper.
Drawn together by a shared fascination for birds, the boys learn
to watch and to listen. Alexandre begins to imitate their songs,
guided by Eddy’s father, while Eddy follows, driven by a longing
for recognition. But as the father rediscovers his pride through his
son, he turns away from Alexandre, who finds another path with
Stromboli, a legendary bird whistler who helps him find his place
in the world.
Across windswept cliffs and open skies, their passion becomes
a way to communicate with birds. From childhood to adulthood,
rivalry gives way to friendship, and together they turn their gift
into a unique artistic journey.
