The Light of Women

In Senegal's backcountry, forces of change are suddenly set in motion when solar energy know-how gives rise to women’s emancipation.

In an isolated village, far from any school and any hope of an electrical connection, a woman imposes change. Against the advice of men, she goes to train in solar energy to electrify her village. Through her actions, she subtly raises questions about the meaning of modernity and the place of women in society.
