The Agency Renewed for Season 2! The U.S remake of The Bureau delivers Showtime’s most streamed new series in history, with 5.1m global viewers

The spy drama starring Michael Fassbender and Richard Gere has earned a quick renewal for a second season. The pickup at Showtime comes less than a week after the debut on Paramount+ With Showtime (its on-air Showtime premiere came two days later) and Paramount+ internationally.

According to Paramount and VideoAmp data, the first episode has drawn 5.1 million viewers globally, which makes it Showtime’s most watched new series in history.

Based on the French series Le Bureau des Legendes – coproduced and distributed worldwide by Federation Studios – The Agency follows a CIA operative (Fassbender) who is pulled out of an undercover assignment and ordered to return to the agency’s London station.

In addition to Michael Fassbender, Jodie Turner-Smith, Richard Gere and Jeffrey Wright, the show’s regular cast includes Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon and Reza Brojerdi.

Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are writers and executive producers. Joe Wright is an executive producer and director for the first two episodes. Additional executive producers include: Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz for Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios; David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari of 101 Studios; George Clooney and Grant Heslov via Smokehouse Pictures; Alex Berger for The Originals Productions; and Pascal Breton and Ashley Stern for Federation Studios. Fassbender will executive produce in addition to starring.

“The Agency” streams internationally on Paramount+ in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Germany, Latin America, and Brazil, with the show set to stream in Japan next year.

Set to air on CANAL+ in France in 2025, The Agency is co-distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution and Federation Studios.
